Kristy Michel
Professional Biography
Kristy A. Michel is currently a Staff Attorney III working with the Health and Public Benefits team at LASCO. Kristy provides representation to clients with issues in areas such as food assistance, social security disability, Medicaid, Medicare, or cash assistance programs. Kristy also works on LASCO’s ReEntry team, helping individuals overcome barriers because of their criminal records. From July 2015-June 2017, Kristy served LASCO as an Equal Justice Fellow. In this role, Kristy provided education, representation, and advocacy support to work-eligible individuals eligible for OWF benefits.
She has previous experience as an in-house LASCO volunteer with the Public Benefits team and more than twelve years in human resources management. Kristy advocates for clients facing both systemic and individual issues. She is driven to make sure low-income, disabled, and elderly individuals have access to needed benefits and opportunities to improve their lives.
